Women Talk Money wanted to create a safe and informative online space for women at risk of financial abuse.

  • Interaction Design
  • Information Architecture

With its easy-to-consume content and format, Women Talk Money helps at-risk women tackle challenging conversations about money with confidence; providing them information to help maintain financial control in their work and family lives.

We developed the site to deliver information about financial literacy in a way that spoke to all types of women, no matter their background or education level.

Delivering information aimed at improving literacy is a major challenge, considering some of the most at-risk are those with low-literacy, mental health issues, histories of abuse or challenging home environments.

We worked with WIRE to develop a site that gave women multiple access points to information, using multiple modes of information architecture, intelligent page browsing, plain-english videos, interactive surveys and structured narrative to guide and support women through information in a way that best suits their style of interaction.

The new site design now functions as a core service for WIRE and plays an active role in empowering women to make informed decisions about their financial future.

The quizzes at the end of each page allow users to validate what they’ve learned. Answers are collected anonymously, collated and shown to other visitors as part of the poll to reveal social patterns – tapping behavioural science to normalise positive behaviour through social proof.

Outcome

The Women Talk Money website tackles these issues head on. By achieving a smart user experience and optimising the site for accessibility, users are easily provided the content they require to have difficult financial conversations, confidently.
